On a bright and spirit-filled Sunday in July 2024, Ascension Anglican Church, Houston held its inaugural service, marking the beginning of a new chapter of worship, mission, and community for Anglicans in the Houston area. The service, filled with joy and deep gratitude, gathered believers from across the city and beyond, united in the desire to glorify God and build His Church.
The atmosphere was electric with expectation as worshippers arrived at the church’s location at 8800 West Sam Houston Parkway South, Suite 107, Houston, TX 77099. The service opened with vibrant praise and heartfelt thanksgiving, led by a passionate worship team, followed by a solemn yet joyful liturgical celebration that honoured the Anglican heritage of Scripture, Sacrament, and Spirit.
Rev. Dr Chidebem Davidson Nwosu, the church’s founding Rector, delivered a powerful inaugural sermon, casting a vision for the church to be a place of vibrant worship, sound biblical teaching, evangelistic outreach, and spiritual growth. He emphasised the call to be a Christ-centred community where nations gather, families are nurtured, and faith is lived out in truth and love.
The inaugural service was also graced by friends, neighbouring clergy, and ministry partners who joined in prayers of dedication and support. A special time of thanksgiving followed, and the entire congregation rejoiced in God’s faithfulness.
The service concluded with renewed commitment, fellowship, and the assurance that God who began this good work will surely bring it to completion.
