On Sunday, May 11, 2025, Ascension Anglican Church, Houston, joyfully celebrated Mother’s Sunday, a day set aside to honour and appreciate the women who nurture families and strengthen the faith community through their love, prayers, and godly example.
The service was led by Rev. Dr Chidebem Davidson Nwosu, the Rector of the church, and featured uplifting worship, Scripture readings, and powerful prayers. In his sermon, Rev. Dr Nwosu spoke on the theme of godly motherhood and the divine calling placed upon women to raise children in the fear of the Lord, support their families, and build up the church.
A special highlight of the day was the contribution of the Women’s Ministry, led by Mrs Barbara Nwosu, the Rector’s wife. The women rendered a soul-lifting anthem, shared testimonies of faith and motherhood, and presented tokens of love to honour the mothers in attendance. The children and youth also participated, presenting songs, poems, and short tributes that deeply touched the congregation.
The atmosphere was filled with joy, thanksgiving, and celebration as the church came together in unity to acknowledge the invaluable role of mothers and mother figures. Every woman present was anointed and prayed for during a time of special blessing.
The day ended with warm fellowship, group photographs, and light refreshments. It was a memorable occasion that highlighted the beauty, strength, and spiritual significance of motherhood in the life of the church and beyond.
